Summer, 2006. Betty will attend the annual symposium of the Garden Writers Association, to be held in the Brandywine Valley at the end of August.
April, 2006. Congratulations, Rex Murfitt! His book Creating and Planting Alpine Gardens, published by B. B. Mackey Books in 2005, won a Silver Trowel Award for excellence in book writing from the Garden Writers Association of America .

March 7, 2006. Betty gave the first papercrete trough demonstration at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Troughs made at her rock garden society workshop were on display in their flower show booth.
February, 2006. Happy 20th anniversary to B. B. Mackey Books (won't say about my personal birthday)! I am now a multimedia publisher and have brought out my first CD, Moments in the Garden. It includes a screensaver, two gorgeous slide shows, and six PDF notecards which you can print out at will. Also I have given up on my old slide projector and now do my talks with a laptop and digital projector. You should see -- the slides move, pan, fade, and more. It really keeps the audience awake! And if they want to see it again, they can buy the disk (alas, Windows only at this point, no Mac).

September, 2005. Wonderful trip to Seattle, Victoria, and Vancouver, culminating in the annual symposium of the Garden Writers Association, with an advance look at plant releases for 2006.
July, 2005. An exciting trek to see alpine plants in St. Johns, Newfoundland is planned. This is the annual meeting of the North American Rock Garden Society. Will there be icebergs? Who knows. But there will be arctic willows, strange northern plants, and lots of great seafood in a charming setting.
April 30, 2005. Betty Mackey will be lecturing in LaPorte Indiana, speaking at a Master Gardener event on cutting gardens.
February, 2005. Publication of the new book, Creating and Planting Alpine Gardens, by Rex Murfitt. Long awaited, it is here and is a wonderfully clear guide to how to embark on an alpine type of garden.

Traveling to see gardens in England was great but there's work getting done too, on the garden and on Rex's new book. Mackey Books has reached agreement with author Alex Pankhurst and will do a North American paperback edition of her book, Who does Your Garden Grow.

Announcing the forthcoming book, Creating and Planting Alpine Gardens, by Rex Murfitt. The projected release date is July 16, 2004. Rex's new book will be a complete guide to constructing alpine gardens and growing alpine plants in gardens, containers, and raised beds. The book is geared to gardeners in the USA and Canada.
